Poppy broke her toe last night... we were outside - she was around the side of the house, don't know what happened. When I called, she didn't come (which is not startling for any of you that have a 6 month old puppy). I went to her and she wouldn't walk. Today she went to see Jen, her xrays show a broken toe. 4 weeks crate rest and a splint change weekly - anyone want to see what I will be like after 4 weeks?
I am sad and feeling guilty - I should have watched her more carefully
The good news is that it was found, is a clean break and will heal. Also, the xrays showed that her growth plates are nearly closed - always good information.
Photo credit goes to Jen who knew that I would need a picture. This is the first time since I have met Poppy that she isn't home.
As always - it takes a village to raise my puppies (apparently). Thanks goes to my friend and neighbor Judy who has taken Poppy to the vet innumerable times in the last 2 months, allowing me to keep my job, thus paying for the vet bills... and also to Jen, who patiently tolerates my late night phone calls, comes in on her day off to take care of Poppy and has taken her home tonight rather than having her stay at the clinic.
And to Poppy - for being Poppy.
oh, so sorry to hear of the injury! Best wishes from Team Treat for a speedy recovery, to both of you -- hugs.
