Christmas is a celebration - as always I'm on the fence between enjoying the festivities and being appalled at the blatant materialism everywhere you turn.
So - in the spirit of Christmas, I decided to note every time my mind turned to something I wanted/needed to buy. Interesting experiment. It seems, on an average of every 15 minutes that I'm awake, there is something that catches my attention. It ranges from necessities like food, then goes to places I'd like to eat (mellow mushroom with dogs maybe....). Dog toys, manners minders, new vibram 5 finger shoes, new crocs, new laptop, running clothes, health club membership, several agility seminars, new carpet in the bedroom, new floor, repaint the house, a palm tree, a snoopy christmas mailbox yard decoration....oh an rv and a small car to tow, new crates for the dogs, new tug leashes in bright colors, especially poor Emma does not have one with her special colors, and a rose quartz mala, maybe just a wrist one, and a new sports watch, and new sod in front (maybe in back too), some astro turf for the garage, rubberize my new dogwalk and aframe (and the table of course). Heartguard for the dogs (and comfortis) and another batch of frisbees for Emma and Fo..... and it's just endless.
And this is just stuff from one afternoon's thoughts. It's amazing how much stuff my mind seems to want. Some of it needed, but mostly not.
Ho Ho - maybe it's not Christmas that's out of whack, maybe it's me?
