Focus,VooDee and Poppy always have pool time on Sundays - that's the awesome perk of teaching dock jumping, they get to play in between lessons. They are crazy about it, and I have to admit, watching Poppy keep up with the bcs is a hoot.
Today I decided to take the Woodward clan to jump - not the ones that are really into it, but the fractious ones.. Hemi hates to get wet and messy, Fiesta bites when picked up, Aidan is Aidan (nuff said), Clark is fearful of new things, Ben is disdainful, and RockIt has had water phobia since he was a puppy.... so why not take them dock jumping?
I took VooDoo and Poppy as bait, since they are jumping fools, so it was 8 dogs in all. Also wanted to see how many dogs can fit in my van in an emergency (like hurricane). If I stow Hemi's crate above the others, and grab one from inside the house, I can fit all dogs in the car - nice to know.
Altho it was a bit scary trying to keep track of all 8 - it was a riot - a least for me! Clark will eventually jump he was really close, Fiesta will never jump, but enjoyed the swim and was very proud of herself afterward. My stomach and legs will probably heal with some scarring from Aidan, he was fiercly determined to levitate out of the water. Ben calmly and sullenly tolerated the 2 laps across the pool. Hemi was funny - she never tried to paddle - just floated and when she started to sink, she just calmly accepted it, I've never seen a dog that didn't try to paddle - that's my little princess.
But the big take away from today was RockIt - not only did he get into the water by himself from the ladder, he also jumped off the dock and retrieved toys like he had been doing it all his life - this is the dog that would not ever go into the water all of his 8 years. He was in the water before I had even climbed all the way up the stairs - wow - who knew? He has earned his place on the Sunday dock crew - I am very proud of him.

That's awesome! Gonna have to get some of my crew out there again for that. Sadly it's the older two that would have loved it as a past time but Groovy has some potential and Spice... well we'll see. She likes to get wet but not swim. We are working on that!
