Scientists say that there exists a world that is the polar opposite of the world we know. I may have found the wormhole that leads to it.
The job that I started this week is the cause for my speculation. It has turned upside down all the beliefs that I have had or acquired over the years about working for a living in corporate america - I have an anti-job.
Here is a list of things in no particular order that have rocked my world....
People have been kind and respectful. The first day that I worked in the office, my manager and team took me to lunch. My team walks at lunch and comes to collect me at lunch time without me having to ask. My manager takes the time to sit and talk not only about work but about human stuff. There was orientation which gave me an overview of the company, it's components and where I fit in.
I have an office with a door that I can close and even lock. They have already enrolled me in training and have a career path outlined with defined milestones and certifications. The commute is actually shorter than my last job. I have to go with a nurse or pastor to a hospice visit as a part of my job. There is an awesome array of restaurants close to work. My team allows me to work the exact hours that I would have hoped for. I can play music in my office and have speakers to my computer and nobody's feet are sticking out under my chair from the cube behind me (because I have an office...)
I know that nothing is perfect and there will be a lot of challenges, but this is such a jolt to my reality. I only hope that I can exceed their expectations of me and give back. I will work my not so little behind off for them.
Thank you anti universe!
