My yard is flooded all the way up to the house. Thank heavens the contact equipment is no longer wood, or it would be long gone in the standing water - even in 2004, the 5 hurricane year, my yard was not flooded as much as it is now.
All the corgis have a belly rash from being wet all the time, they never get a chance to dry out.
Oddly tho, there has been no water IN the house. The pump in my well (umm, the one that is 47 ft below ground level) was going out. The well is pretty far from the house, and worse, the only showers I have, are on the 2nd floor. We have had water to drink, but anything on the top floor was sparse. Worse, between the holiday weekend, and the rainfall that flooded the yard, it was impossible for Dan (the well guy) to get a truck with a boom and and crane into the yard. Add to that a bunch of lightning and high winds - bummer for me.
Dan surprised me! He called on Tues and said the weather made it too dangerous, and it was the same forcast for Wednesday and possibly even Thursday, so he would let me know when he could work safely.
I came home Wednesday evening and had water!!! It is glorious. I took a real shower for no reason, just because I could.
It takes 5 hours to replace a pump, the wiring, and all the pipes, and the price tag is steep, but in thinking about it, I've lived here almost 7 years and never had a water bill. In Spring Hill, the water bill ranged from 30 to 100 dollars/month, so altho it's a sad event now, in the long run, it comes out ok.
*Yay for the weekend and boo for the fire ants that were in my crocks and bit the heck out of my feet.
